Stress is a word we all live within this century. Life in the cities has become extremely hectic and the day to day activities are becoming more and more stressful. Even the simplest activities like traveling to work are hectic.
The competition has added to the pressure to perform – not just at work, but at home and schools as well. The pressure to perform better and better usually ends up in the opposite direction due to stress.
So where does all this leave us? Mostly in the clinics of doctors or psychologists!
Is there a way out? Yes, there are ways to get relief from stress without visiting the doctor – add a few Stress Relief Activities to your daily life!
Stress Relief Activities
Exercise is the most recommended activity as it keeps your body as well as the mind in a good shape. You can join a gym and start regularly and systematically exercising there.
Alternatively, you can join a class that teaches yoga. This will help you maintain a flexible body and also will cause less strain. Swimming and Tai Chi are also good exercises. There are a whole lot of options like Aerobics, Zumba, etc that you can try.
Meditation is recommended if your lifestyle is physically strenuous. Traveling to and from work can be tiring. You might not have the energy to exercise, but you can practice meditation every day.
Meditation can include any prayers that you say every day. Just add 30 to 45 minutes of chanting a prayer while sitting peacefully in one place.
You can also learn meditation techniques at the many centers like Vipassana, Mindfulness, etc and then practice those at home.
Surprisingly diet plays an important role in keeping you stress-free. Avoiding fast food and junk food will reduce your cholesterol, and in turn, your stress levels. Adding natural foods in form of salads helps to reduce the stress.
Socialising would imply meeting your family and friends – not just people from your professional life. Ensure you spend at least one weekend in a month meeting your extended family or long-time friends.
Music is a strong medium which helps you relax. You can put on calm and soothing music while going about your everyday routine.
6) TURN TO NATURE
We are going away from the natural ways of life and from nature itself. But nature can help you to relax. If you travel every day, take a route that has more trees.
You can take walks at the beach or in a park nearby to take in the beauty of nature and a breath of fresh air
7) BREAKS FROM ROUTINE
We all need regular breaks from whatever we do regularly. A break does not necessarily mean an expensive holiday. It can be a weekend spent away from the routine, if possible, with a family who is not in the same town s yours.
The first thought that comes to your mind is, “I really don’t have time for all this!” But if you can find time for that one more serial on TV, you can find time to incorporate the above-mentioned activities – preferably a combination of more than one!
So hope that you take time for one of Stress Relief Activities to keep away from the doctor!
